“I’ve tried out dozens of article writers, and I just can’t seem to find a good one. They just don’t deliver what they promise.” Have you ever found yourself saying this? I’ve heard this lament more times than I care to count. There is, however, a way to greatly increase your odds of finding a good SEO article writer.
Certainly, you have to ask for writing samples. The problem here, though, is that what you often get aren’t representative examples of a writer’s work. Instead, you get a handful the writer’s very best, Muse-inspired work – which doesn’t tell you much about what that writer can produce day in and day out on a regular, ongoing basis. And that’s what you really need to know.
So you should find out what the writer’s area of expertise/specialization is – and then ask for something else. Yup, have the writer write on a topic she knows absolutely nothing about.
When you do this, you’ll stand a much better chance of finding out exactly what this writer can consistently produce. You’ll also discover quite a bit about the writer’s research skills, versatility, and ability to operate under pressure. And you can see whether the quality and style of the sample article you commission are consonant with those of the samples provided by the writer. There should be a fairly good match. If not, beware.
Here’s a previous blog post that obliquely illustrates what I’m talking about.
And there’s one more thing: be willing to pay full price for sample articles. You want to replicate as closely as possible actual working conditions. And basic human nature usually undermines our work when we’re paid a pittance. It’s not deliberate, but occurs unbidden and subconsciously.
So there you go – a sure-fire (well, almost) way to find the best SEO article writer for your SEO content needs. Commission a sample article (or two or three) outside the writer’s area of expertise, and be willing to pay standard rates for that sample article. This should go a long way toward culling the writers who try to deceive by providing misleading writing samples.
